Leading with Purpose in the Age of Disruption: Reflections from SHIFT
At SHIFT, young people explored what it means to take ownership of their future in a rapidly changing world. The session on “Leading with Purpose in the Age of Disruption” examined purpose, resilience, ownership, and ethical courage as essential tools for navigating change.
Young people came together at SHIFT with a shared challenge: “Your Future in Your Making.” More than a theme, it was an invitation to take ownership of the choices, decisions, and actions that will shape their future.
One of the highlights of the day for me was my session, “Leading with Purpose in the Age of Disruption".
At a time when AI is reshaping industries, geopolitical realities are shifting, and a new generation is redefining what it wants from work and life, the conversation around purpose could not have been more timely.
We explored purpose not as a soft, feel-good idea, but as a strategic anchor—the thing that keeps our direction steady when technology, markets, and expectations change rapidly.
We unpacked what it means to have a clear "why", build adaptive resilience rather than simply wait for disruption to pass, and push decision-making to the edges so people can act with speed, confidence, and ownership.
We also talked about ethical courage the willingness to make principled decisions even when the easier path may seem more attractive in the short term.
A huge thank you to Vincent Egoro and Uko Ekott for sharing their wisdom alongside me, and to everyone who showed up, leaned in, and asked the hard questions.
This is exactly why SHIFT exists – not to hand you a map, but to help you build your own compass.
Your future is literally in your making. Let’s keep going
